Downloading a site to update it

You can update a site by downloading it as well as uploading it. That is, you can synchronize the local site and the server-based site from the server as well as from the local site. You would update by downloading if you had made changes at the server-based site that needed to be reflected at the local site.

For downloading, you have two choices:

  • Incremental downloads copy only site files whose modification dates on the server are later than the modification dates of the corresponding local files. (If both the server file and the local file have been modified and the local file has a later modification date, the server file won't be downloaded.)
  • Selection downloads copy your own selection of files from the server. They are useful for the same reasons that selection uploads are useful. For information, see About uploads and updates.

  • To update a site by downloading it:

1 Open the site, and connect to the FTP server.

2 Do one of the following:

  • Click the Download from Server button () on the toolbar, or choose Site > FTP Server > Incremental Download.
  • Select the folders or individual files to upload in the FTP tab, and choose Site > FTP Server > Download Selection.
